GAUGE:
31 sts = 10" on Size 10.5 needles with double strand of yarn.
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION:
SEED ST PAT (worked on an odd number of sts)
Row 1 K 1, *p 1, k 1; rep from * across. Rep Row 1 for Seed St pat
NOTES:
Blanket and Hood are worked holding 2 strands of yarn together throughout.
BLANKET
With Size 10½ needles and 2 strands of yarn held together, cast on 87 sts. Work in Seed St for 8 rows. Cont in pat as foll:
Rows 1 & 3 (RS)
Work 5 sts in Seed St, place marker, k 77 sts, place marker, work 5 sts in Seed St. Rows 2 & 4 Work 5 sts in Seed St, sl marker, p 77 sts, sl marker, work 5 sts in Seed St. Rows 5-10 Work in Seed St on all sts. Rep Rows 1-10, 11 more times, then rep Rows 1-4 once. Work in Seed St on all sts for 8 rows. Bind off.
HOOD
With Size 10½ needles and 2 strands of yarn held together, cast on 3 sts. Work in Seed St inc 1 st at each edge every other row until there are 43 sts. Bind off.
FINISHING
Sew Hood to any corner of Blanket, invisibly, or using Blanket St, if desired.

I made the knit version of this for a friend's baby a couple years ago and it came out super cute!! I've since learned to crochet and may try this version next if I can find it in crochet version. Super easy but it did take A LONG TIME knitting.
